On July 1, the club went to a camp in Switzerland in Lugano. For its first friendly match of the 2016/2017 season, AS Monaco scored a 5-3 victory against FC Lugano, Swiss first division team, thanks to Thomas Lemar twice Radamel Falcao, Guido Carrillo and a goal-against-his camp.
The next day at 4:30 pm, the Asémistes have played another match against SC Kriens, swiss third division club. Less than 24 hours after the win against Lugano, AS Monaco played a second friendly match to conclude his Swiss internship. A meeting ended in a 3-3 draw with goals from Elderson Echiejile, Vagner Love and Valere Germain. Despite a wide domination and many situations for the Colombian Radamel Falcao, the ASM is forced to draw 3-3.
After returning to the Principality, Monaco went back a few days later in Switzerland, in Lausanne. They played against FC Sion, another local D1 team on Saturday at 6pm. AS Monaco was hooked (3-3) by FC Sion, 5th of last Swiss championship. Monaco’s goals were scored by Valere Germain (40th), Radamel Falcao (53rd sp) and Adama Traoré (83rd) while Moussa Konate (50th), Shadrach Akolo (72th) and Jemerson against his camp (90th + 2) have to whenever equalized.
AS Monaco was beaten 2-1 by FC Lucerne, the Swiss third championship in 2015/2016 on the occasion of its fourth friendly match of the preseason. Dominating in the first period, the Monegasques have created the best opportunities with Cavaleiro three times and Vagner Love, but it was the Swiss who opened the scoring with a beautiful free kick. ASM has little time to react with a new strike into the net. Lucerne regained the lead five minutes after the restart. Combative Monegasques have tried to react but with more difficulty than in the first half and the best situations were finally Luzerner.
AS Monaco has largely imposed (4-1) against Sporting Portugal on the occasion of its fifth friendly match of the summer. The goals of ASM are the work of Valere Germain (12th), Radamel Falcao (23rd, 66th) and Guido Carrillo (82nd). Daniel Podence (21st) was scoring for the Portuguese. In their first game of the summer and deprived of their European Champions, the Portuguese had more difficulty than expected. Despite a few occasions during the second half, Sporting was never able to reduce the score leaving the ASM win 4-1.
AS Monaco has consistently beat FC Basel for their penultimate warm-up match. The final score was 1-0 for the men of Leonardo Jardim. Gabriel Boschilia is the only scorer of the match. On the whole, the Monegasques were dominant in the first half. Bernardo Silva and Ivan Cavaleiro could burden the score in the final moments of the game.
In his seventh and final game of preparation, AS Monaco lost against the Russians Zenit St Petersburg. Radamel Falcao is the only Monaco scorer of the match. ASM yet up 1 goal to 0 at halftime. Back from the changing rooms without the Colombian striker replaced by Vagner Love, the Red and White went down with 3 goals conceded between the 46th and 51th minute. A slump explained by big mistakes of the defensive sector.
ASM finished his preparation on a balance of 3 wins, 2 draws and 2 losses (18 goals, 15 conceded) . First appointment of the season next week in Turkey against Fenerbahçe at the first leg of the third preliminary round of the Champions League.
