From 7 August to 11 September 2016, Laurent Strouk exposes the French painter Robert Combas at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco.
A hundred major works from the 80s/90s, from private collections and public institutions will be presented around the themes dear to the artist: love, woman, fighting, religion, mythology, music, genre scenes …
Robert Combas seized the material beings like the material world or the cosmos. At both hands, kneading by grinding the paint as a strength, vitality, power energy it deserves to enable the act. He is connected directly on that strength, in tune with the power of the universe. His style like no other is that of a primitive genius who sculpts time and piling works as testimony of coagulations of these magnificent times. The shaman is the great organizer of chromatic parties, the supervisor of a pantheistic religion that draw big live. Long live to the shaman!
Michel Onfray,
In his infinite freedom of figuration as Picasso, Combas plays with the figure. His paintings are a complex and exhilarating game of colors, shapes and patterns. Each work reveals a world in itself. Appeared in the late 70s, the painting was immediately COMBAS effect of upsetting the aesthetic ideas of the time. Free from all movement, profoundly free and painter Robert COMBAS today continues his fight.
Admiring the explosive creativity of Robert Combas, Laurent Strouk thought this exhibition as an explosion: explosion of joy, colors, energy, vitality !
